Known for her brand of honest and refreshing hip hop, she is also the founder of The RecordShop; a free recording studio programme for 16-25 year olds based in the heart in Tottenham. Nicolah Hogg is a Tottenham based singer song writer, performing under the name NICOLAH. Nicolah began by busking on the London Underground, then her first single "Flow" won the Mayor of London GIGS Songwriting Prize taking her to play at Glastonbury 2017. Since then she's received support & multiple airplay with BBC Introducing, including recording a live session for it August this year. Tottenham has a history of music culture and with a number of venue openings in recent times, a new and thriving music scene has been emerging in the area. Helping the scene to grow are locals Katherine Melling and Helen Parton, who recently teamed up to form HelKat Music, a music promotion business. Having launched this summer, HelKat are putting on regular gigs at The Cause on Ashley Road, with next one happening this Friday. Rachel Ho had a chat with them to find out more.
