On 22nd May 2019, we held a networking & meet up event at The Bluecoats. During the evening, one of the local writers at the event, Anj Cairns, collected from conversations taking place and currated a poem from what was spoken about. Below is the result!
Photos from the networking event featuring Rachel Ho, Anj Cairns, Mumma Sue, Hayley Venus and Miranda Keeling.
I’m a sista from Tottenham
Do you want to know my name?
I’m a sista from Tottenham
Let’s talk business
I have a terrible confession to make.
I need a millennial.
I’m in so many group chats at the moment.
I’m so fucking overwhelmed, it’s not even funny.
I grew up in a carnival.
I think I have a story to tell.
It must be you who’s put on a musical.
Do you want to know my name?
I’m a sista from Tottenham.
The name always gets people’s attention.
It’s like rugby on roller skates.
Are you playing? It’s a free event.
There’ll be coffins.
I think that sounds a bit strange
But I don’t understand why people wouldn’t do it.
It was part of what I needed to do.
I’ll just do a downward dog before going to bed and it’ll be alright.
I’ve done so many.
Do you want to know my name?
’m a sista from Tottenham.
The sun is radiating on everyone
Helping people feel better inside and out
It wasn’t raining cos they’re Australian.
There’s a big phallic symbol next to us.
They don’t make cars like this anymore.
They won’t make cars like this anymore.
Do you have your lobster card ready?
